Pediatric Physical Therapy

Pediatric Physical Therapists assess a child’s strength, range of motion and endurance and determine how physical factors are affecting the child’s performance in daily activities. They work through direct treatment, as well as home program exercises, to increase children’s ability to crawl, stand, walk, run, jump and participate in sports.

Physical therapists work with some of the following diagnoses and concerns:

  • Dyspraxia

  • Cerebral Palsy

  • Down Syndrome

  • Lack of coordination

  • Hypotonia

  • Autism

  • Torticollis

  • Toe walking

  • Decreased strength and endurance

  • Decreased flexibility

  • Developmental Delays

Therapists develop home program suggestions, train parents in therapeutic techniques, make recommendations for specialized equipment for the child or for the home, and monitor progress and address any current or changing concerns of the parents and child.
